Northeast Georgia Regional Transportation Forum

The Northeast Georgia Self Advocacy Network in cooperation with the MULTIPLEchoices Center for Independent Living, Inc. is hosting a Northeast Georgia Regional Transportation Forum. The intent of the forum is to hear from our elected representatives about the transportation legislation and the impact of the legislation on Northeast Georgia.

If you are a resident of Northeast Georgia with a concern about transportation including: reasonable accommodations, getting to appointments , shopping, social events, traffic, or the high cost of gas, please join us on. State Representative and candidate across Northeast Georgia have been invited.

Fall Meeting of the Statewide Coalition on Blindness

Everyone is urged to attend the Fall 2010 Statewide Coalition on Blindness being held in Rome on November 13, 2010 at the Days Inn 840 Turner McCall Boulevard Rome, GA 30161 Reservations 706.295.0400

Coalition Room Rate of $58 per night plus 13% Tax available until October 13, 2010. Make sure you say you are with the Statewide Coalition on Blindness.

Special Event! Transportation Workshop

This Transportation Workshop will provide critical information on very important aspects of funding transportation systems. Also, you will be provided the knowledge to advocate for better transportation in your local community among many informative topics. To secure a space at the Transportation Workshop, phone Alice Ritchhart at 912.996.4213. to obtain the Group Rate. The Days Inn has a free continental breakfast and there are several restaurants in walking distance as well.

Registration and Lunch is $10 and will include a hot lunch by a wonderful southern cook Betty Mosley. Lunch cost of $10 must be paid for in advance in one of two ways: Agency or Consumer Organizations may pay for their entire group by Business Check. No personal checks please! Individuals not associated with an Agency or Consumer Organization must pay by Money Order made payable to Georgia Council of the Blind.

Self Advocacy Network

The Self Advocacy Network meeting is held on the first Tuesday, of every month at 6:00 PM, at MULTIPLE choices Center for Independent Living, 850 Gaines School Road, Athens, Georgia. For further information call 706.549.1020.

VISTAS

VISTAS CENTER, a Resource Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired is looking for persons with a visual impairment to participate in computer, Orientation & Mobility and Rehab Therapy programs. You must be 55 years of age or older and have a severe visual impairment to participate. Call 706-995-2216 for more information.
