Reader’s Advisors-Questions and Answers
Q: What are the different ways I can order my books?
A: You can order via the phone, fax, email, online or regular mail. When you
send us an order, please indicate whether you want us to send the books right
away or add them to your request list. If you are using the order form from the
Talking Book Topics catalog, make the note in the margins. This will prevent any
confusion or delays in sending your books. Even though catalogs are sent from
Florida, please return the order form to the Special Needs Library. If you are
ordering a school book for a student, we encourage you to call us. We will do
everything we can to expedite your order.
Before They Were Left Behind
The Left Behind series by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins, which began with Left
Behind: A Novel of the Earth’s Last Days (RC 47462), recently reached its
dramatic conclusion with The Glorious Appearing: The End of Days (RC 57944). So
what to read next? Well, the authors have written a “prequel” to the series,
describing what happened before the events of Left Behind. The new book is
called The Rising: Before They Were Left Behind, and is currently in process but
does not have its RC number yet. Please give us a call to be placed on the list
for when this book is recorded. The series is a fictional version of Biblical
“end times” –the Rapture and events following, set in the near future. As with
the Harry Potter series, if you haven’t read the books yet we can start you at
the beginning and take you through to the end, and the books are also available
in Spanish. “Left Behind: The Kids” is a companion series for children and young
adults; many of these titles have also been recorded by NLS.

Cassette Book Tips
Here are some guidelines for extending the life of our Talking Books, so that
they can continue to be enjoyed as they are passed from patron to patron:
- Please keep food and drink away from cassette books and players.
- Please open only one container of cassette tapes at a time to prevent putting
tapes back in the wrong container.
- Please use the same card to return a book as was used to deliver the book to
you.
- When returning cassette books, please do not use tape to hold mailing cards in
place. This is unnecessary and slows down the process of checking in returned
books.
- When returning damaged cassette books, please place a rubber band or string
inside the container. The rubber band does not need to be placed around a
particular tape, and no note is necessary. The rubber band or string in the case
signals a problem to the person who checks in the cassette book.
If you place a note in with the cassette with a request or to alert us you would
like the book sent to you again if it is damaged, make sure your name
is included on the note.
