Senior Cinema Gets a "Classic" Make-Over
Senior Cinema is now called Cinema Classics. We are showing described versions of classic films released from the 1930's-1970's.
Our next movie will be Thursday, June 14th at 2pm. We will be showing "Road to Bali". Refreshments will be served.

Athens-Clarke County Library Summer Puppet Show
Special Needs Enhancements for the Hearing Impaired and Visually Impaired Child

- Hearing Impaired: Sign language interpreted puppet show on Monday, June 4 @ 7:00 p.m.
- Visually Impaired:
- Low-vision children can use a special book of the puppet show script prepared using Writing With Pictures© software. These puppet script books will be available at every puppet show.
- Visually Impaired Children. We will have a described puppet show on CD. The described puppet show includes a narration track for the visually-impaired. It does not interfere with the story.
- Please alert staff when you enter the puppet show with your visually-impaired child. We will provide your child with the appropriate enhancement that fits their need.
Vacation Reading Program
We have a few changes to our Vacation Reading Program this summer. It will be open to all of our patrons regardless of age. You will need to contact us and sign up to be included in the program. This year's theme is "Reading Takes You Everywhere." Participants who read 10 or more books will receive a prize.
There is a fun interactive online Scavenger Hunt on the Georgia Public Library website. Go to
www.georgialibraries.org/kids/ and click on Reading Takes You Everywhere-Anywhere You Want to Go! It has interesting information about places in Georgia, questions about the Civil War, etc. It provides links to help you answer the questions. We look forward to hearing from you… and happy reading!
Family Night at the (Described) Movies
The next Family Night at the Movies will be on Tuesday, June 26th at 6:00 pm in the Athens-Clarke County Library Auditorium. We will be showing "The Incredibles" from our described video collection.
Refreshments will be served.
Athens Transit Citizen Advisory Committee
The Athens Transit Citizen Advisory Committee meets on the 4th Monday of every month at 5 pm in the conference room of the Multi-modal Transportation Center. The Multi-modal Transportation Center is located at 775 E. Broad St. in Athens.
ADVOCACY CLASS
The June 2007 Advocacy class at VISTAS CENTER will feature Mr. Albert Meruelo an Area Representative with Optelec, an Electronic Low Vision Company. Mr. Meruelo will demonstrate a wide variety of products that will help you read your mail and newspapers, write checks and view photographs. These products have helped many individuals who experience vision loss regain their independence and quality of life. Please call and reserve your seat.
The class is scheduled for June 21st, 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the VISTAS CENTER, 337 S. Milledge Ave. Suite 122. There is no charge for the class. For More information or to reserve your seat, call (706) 583-8001.
